Reclaimed Hay Pallet Planters

Title pretty much says it all. This project basically consisted of taking a pallet out of the hay barn, cleaning it up a bit, sawing off the ends, and screwing in new bottom slats. No joke, there were at least a hundred daddy longlegs squatting under this thing. I’m expecting an angry letter from their HOA any day now. Since this project was pretty straightforward, I’m going to take this time to tell you a neat fact I just learned about daddy longlegs:

Apparently, we know from a very well-preserved fossil of a daddy longlegs from Scotland that they are at least 400 million years old. To put this in perspective, this is about 200 million years before dinosaurs appeared, which were only around for about 165 million years. Science!

Science, no…….science please stop.

Old hay pallet to start with. To quote Han, "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts."

Cutting off the edges. I used a hand saw because it gave me more control than the Sawzall, which is the essentially the Gary Busey of precision cutting.
